DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1 – of 10 days exciting big five safari adventure and primates:
- Arrival at Entebbe and Transfer to your hotel.
On Arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by a YANETA safaris guide/driver. Thereafter, you will transfer to your hotel.
In case you arrive earlier, you can take up a tour around the town and get a chance to interact with the community people who are hospitablel and you too can purchase souvenirs if interested. Later in the afternoon head back to the lodge for lunch and have an entire evening to your relaxation preparing for the safari adventures.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2 – of 10 days exciting big five safari adventure and primates:
- Transfer to Murchison Falls enroute Rhino Tracking.
After an early breakfast, our driver guide will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 am, he will also brief you about your 3 Days safari to Murchison falls and you will start your 6 hours journey to Murchison Falls National park. You will go through the Luwero, and later have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking; here you will find both black and white rhinos.
After tracking have another stop in Masindi where you will have lunch, after lunch proceed to the park. Later drive to the lodge, relax the whole evening, have dinner and an overnight.
Day 3 – 10 days exciting big five safari adventure and primates:
- Morning Game drive and Boat along the Nile
On this day wake up early and have breakfast, after your driver and the ranger guide will pick you up from the lodge to start your Game drive at 7:00 am. During the drive you will be in position to see very many animals such as lions, buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, antelopes, water bucks and birds among others. After the game drive at around 11:40 am, drive back to the lodge, relax/freshen up and have lunch as you prepare for the afternoon boat cruise. On the boat you will be able to see various Nile crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes, elephants along the banks of the Nile. You may get the chance to spot some birds such as the Goliath heron etc. The boat ride will take you to the base/bottom of the Murchison Falls, when you reach here you will be able to see clearly the mighty waterfalls. Continue with the hike to the top of the falls the hike may be strenuous but the thrill of reaching the top is worth to remember; here you will meet your driver guide who will drive you back to the lodge.
Day 4 – 10 days exciting big five safari adventure and primates:
- Transfer to Kibale National Park
Get your breakfast early enough at your accommodation, depart right away for Kibale Forest National Park. The drive is incredibly scenic, passing through villages, lush green countryside and hills dotted with tea plantations which characterize this part of Uganda. Kibale NP is popular for its primates like the chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys and red tailed monkeys. You will reach and do little but check in your accommodation for dinner and Overnight at the lodge.
Day 5 – 10 days exciting big five safari adventure and primates:
- Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Just after your breakfast, head to the rangers’ point where you will receive some briefing on the dos and don’ts during chimp trekking. Thereafter, you will proceed to trek the chimps in the Kibale Forest. An experienced ranger guide will take you chimp tracking and you will be marveled by the sights of primates here. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will have a full hour in their presence. You will return to the lodge for lunch after which you will head out for Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will arrive in the evening and overnight at your booked Lodge.
Day 6 – 10 days exciting big five safari adventure and primates:
- Early morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat along the Kazinga Channel
Don’t be late for your breakfast, have it early enough. Proceed for a morning game drive to the Kasenyi plains and be on the look for: Lions, Elephants, Bush bucks, Cape Buffaloes, Defassa Waterbucks, Giant Forest Hogs, Uganda kob, among others. Return to your accommodation for some rest time and lunch. After lunch, you will go for a 2-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes George and Edward and you will surely be fascinated by the concentrations of giant hippos, elephants and crocodiles among others. You will also see many varieties of birds at the water shores such as the African shoebill, Great and long tailed cormorants, Open billed stork, Darters, saddle bill stork. You will have dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 7 – 10 days exciting big five safari adventure and primates:
- Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park enroute Ishasha.
Make sure you had your breakfast then set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park – famously known for its resident tree-climbing lions. The chance of spotting these lions is about 70% though sometimes they are really hard to spot (most especially when they’re down in the grassland looking for prey). Hoping you get the chance to spot them, the sight will be spectacular! Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is a big habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda (harboring an estimated 400 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population) including several habituated groups, which can be tracked. With a strenuous day ahead, you will do less on arrival but just check in your accommodation, relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the following day.
Day 8 – 10 days exciting big five safari adventure and primates:
- Gorilla Trekking and Afternoon Batwa community and Cultural Encounter
A healthy breakfast is important, so have one, after that you will be briefed by a ranger guide, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular! The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. Return to your lodge for lunch and relax.
Late in the Afternoon, proceed to the villages for a cultural walk to interact with the hospitable people and participate in their captivating traditional performances.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Drive to enjoy the canoe trek on the lake then relax
Day 9 – 10 days exciting big five safari adventure and primates:
- Drive to Lake Bunyonyi and enjoy the canoe trek on the lake, Relaxation
A day of relaxation, have a relaxed breakfast and thereafter, drive off to Lake Bunyonyi which is the second deepest lake in Africa. Dotted with small islands with steep sides and terraced shores with its 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical, you could admire them all day.
You can go canoeing in the locally made canoes and this will introduce the different islands such as the punishment island commonly known as “Akampene” where bakiga girls were abandoned for getting pregnant before marriage.
Return to the accommodation for lunch and relaxation with a spectacular view of Lake Bunyonyi right in front of you.
Day 10 – of 10 days exciting big five safari adventure and primates:
- Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and enjoy afternoon game drive
Have breakfast and set off to Lake Mburo NP. Drive past the intensely terraced Kigezi hill slopes into Mbarara town and finally Lake Mburo NP. Arrive in the park in the early afternoon and take some rest at your booked accommodation before embarking on the late afternoon (evening) game viewing. On the game drive, expect to see the gigantic eland antelopes, zebras in big numbers, topis, impalas, warthogs, Uganda kob and Cape buffalos among others. Later, relax at the accommodation where you will spend the night.
Day 11: Nature Walk and Transfer to the Airport
Enjoy your early breakfast and proceed for the Mburo morning park/nature walk in the presence of an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger/guide. On this early morning guided walk, you often encounter hyenas that are returning to their dens after a night of being on the prowl. Also, you will have the opportunity to encounter (at close range): Zebras, Giraffes and Eland, Topi and other antelopes, Cape buffaloes among others. Take the Trail to the top of the hills and see Lake Mburo and beyond. From this vantage point, you will have a great view of 9 of the twelve lakes surrounding Lake Mburo National Park. You will have an opportunity to enjoy photography at the equator, have lunch and proceed for a drop off at the Airport.
