For most people mountain gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking are the highlight of this safari. DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival to the Pearl of Africa

Today on arrival at the Airport, a representative of Yaneta Safaris will be eagerly waiting to receive you and transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala depending on arrival time for overnight. You will have dinner depending on time of arrival.

Day 2-3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park en route Ziwa Sanctuary, Morning Game drive and after boat cruise

Start your day with an early breakfast, then set off for Murchison Falls. Along the way, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino tracking experience on foot. Afterward, enjoy lunch before continuing the journey. Upon arrival, head to the top of the falls, where the Nile squeezes through a 7-meter gorge, creating a breathtaking thunderous plunge.

Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest, offers incredible wildlife encounters. Begin the morning with a game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, searching for giraffes, elephants, hartebeests, buffaloes, leopards, lions, and various bird species. In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Nile, a relaxing cruise that provides more chances to spot wildlife. Experience the dramatic falls from below, famously known as the “Devil’s Cauldron,” an unforgettable sight found only in Uganda.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Today we depart for the home of Chimpanzee in Kibale National Park. Kibale forest is home to 13 species of primates with the main attraction being chimpanzee tracking and bird watching. The journey to this tropical forest passes villages and colorful road markets.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk

Chimpanzee tracking is a rewarding adventure that takes you deep into tropical forests, where streams and abundant wildlife create a breathtaking experience. The day begins with a briefing from the ranger guide, who will provide insights into the trek ahead. As you venture into the forest, you may spot red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, butterflies, and birds calling from the canopies. With the guidance of your ranger, you will locate the chimpanzees. Take time to observe them as they play, groom, and feed, capturing unforgettable moments.

After lunch, embark on the Bigodi Community Walk, a project that supports local employment through guided tours. Along the way, visit the famous swamp, home to diverse bird and primate species. Depending on the time available, explore local traditions by meeting the village medicine man, watching women weave crafts, experiencing coffee processing, and learning about traditional beer-making.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today after breakfast, our tour continues to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a wildlife experience in the plains of Kasenyi. The drive will take us through views of several crater lakes and the mystical Rwenzori  Mountain ranges en route.
nIn the afternoon the safari will continue on a boat cruise on Kazinga channel which is a stretch of water connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. The boat safari offers you great photography sessions in a relaxed way with lots of bird life on the shores, crocodiles, elephants, etc.

Day 7: Morning Game drive and Transfer to Ishasha sector

Start the day with an early morning game drive in the savannah plains of Kasenyi. As the sun rises, animals emerge in their family groups, beginning their day. Drive through the plains in a customized safari vehicle, keeping an eye out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, and waterbucks. The breathtaking scenery, set between the Rwenzori Mountains and the Rift Valley escarpment, enhances the experience.

After the game drive, continue to the Ishasha sector in southern Queen Elizabeth National Park. This area is famous for its tree-climbing lions, a rare and fascinating sight in the African wilderness.

Day 8: Transfer to the home of the Gorillas ( Bwindi Impenetrable National Park)

Today we start journey to the home of the gentle giants of Bwindi – Mountain gorillas. The journey takes us through the terraced hills of Kigezi highlands. Lunch will be along the way or at the lodge depending on time of arrival. Take your well-deserved rest at your hotel in the lodge.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking

Mountain gorillas are true gentle giants found in Bwindi impenetrable forest and Mgahinga gorilla national park in Uganda. Bwindi impenetrable forest is abounding with life hosting species of birds, butterflies, primates, mammals, and trees.

Your driver guide will transfer you to the briefing area where you will be divided into groups and allocated ranger guides and a gorilla family to trek. Your ranger guide will guide you while communicating with trackers to the enormous and rare mountain gorillas deep in the jungles of Bwindi. The trekking experience takes anything from a few minutes to hours to accomplish, you only have one hour with gorillas to capture your finest moment.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

As you reminisce on your gorilla experiences we depart for Lake Bunyonyi, the 2nd deepest lake in Africa. Enjoy stunning scenery – interlocking hills terraced by the locals as they practice farming named the “Switzerland of Africa” by Churchill, the great British diplomat.

Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi Islands Tour

Wake up to the warm morning sun shining over Lake Bunyonyi. The lake is surrounded by terraced hills, where locals cultivate potatoes and other crops for food and trade.

After breakfast, take a canoe ride to explore some of the 29 islands. Along the way, your guide will share cultural and historical insights, including the fascinating story of the ‘Punishment Island.’

In the afternoon, choose from several activities. Swim in the lake’s refreshing waters, go birdwatching, or hike up a steep hill for panoramic views. If you prefer a relaxed pace, sit by the shore and enjoy a good book.

Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo

Lake Mburo National Park is a small gem in south western Uganda – en route to you pass through beautiful landscapes, plantations, and farms.
You will have an afternoon boat trip on Lake Mburo after which you take a short game drive enjoying the beautiful Zebras. OR You can choose to take a nature walk and watch the wildlife with a ranger accompanying you.

Day 13: Transfer to Jinja

After an early breakfast, we take a game drive after which we proceed to Jinja. You will have a stopover at the famous Equator monument where you can have your lunch and do some shopping for crafts. Continue on to Jinja arriving in the afternoon – take the much needed rest.

Day 14: Water Rafting

In Jinja, the Nile begins its 4,000 km journey through Africa. Start your day with a visit to the Source of the Nile before heading to the rafting starting point. Your driver-guide will ensure a smooth transfer as you join other adventurers for an action-packed experience.

Enjoy a full-day rafting adventure, tackling half the rapids before lunch and the rest in the afternoon. If you prefer, opt for a half-day rafting session and spend the afternoon at leisure.

For more excitement, choose from optional activities like quad biking, bungee jumping, horseback riding, or kayaking.

Day 15: Departure
