16-Day Rwanda-Uganda Adventure Tour

Experience the best of Rwanda and Uganda on this well-balanced 16-day adventure. Begin in Nyungwe, Africa’s oldest rainforest, then explore the Virunga ranges in Volcanoes National Park. Continue to Bwindi, home of the mountain gorillas, before heading to the savannah parks of Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls. Conclude your journey with exciting activities on the mighty River Nile.

Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda

On arrival to Kigali you will meet our tour representative who will thereafter transfer you to a hotel for an overnight stay on Bed and Breakfast. Depending on your arrival time, we may have a city tour of Kigali where we may visit the genocide memorial center at Gisozi as well as the local craft markets. Accommodation will be at Lemigo Hotel Kigali with breakfast inclusive.

Day 2: Drive to Nyungwe Forest, Visit Nyanza King’s place

After breakfast, depart for Nyungwe National Park with a stop at Nyanza Palace. Located in Rwanda’s southern corner, Nyungwe Forest is a vast, untouched rainforest with a dense canopy. It is home to over 310 bird species, hundreds of butterflies, and orchids. The park also shelters 75 mammal species, including 13 primates, such as chimpanzees.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and Canopy walks

Chimpanzees in Nyungwe forest live in extended communities and move around every day, foraging for food or occasionally hunting smaller mammals. Chimpanzee tracking can last for between an hour to three depending on the location of the chimpanzees. You will spend a maximum of one hour interacting, photographing and observing the animals.

After lunch you will undertake a thrilling canopy walk in Nyungwe forest.

 Day 4: Drive to Volcanoes national park

After breakfast, you shall begin your journey to Volcanoes national park. Enjoy the spectacular views of hills and misty valleys on your way. Situated in the far northwest of Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range – home of the endangered mountain gorilla. You will check into your accommodation, have dinner and relax in preparation for activities of the next day.

Day 5: Golden Monkey tracking

Golden monkeys in Rwanda live in the bamboo vegetation towards the base of the volcanoes. Trekking golden monkeys and gorillas is a similar experience – in a small group of no more than eight people, and you can spend one hour with the monkeys once you find them. The endangered species are very active creatures, and jump from tree to tree which is really interesting and a little difficult to photograph!

 Day 6: Drive to  Bwindi Impenetrable national park

In the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Bwindi impenetrable national park across the border into Uganda. Enjoy numerous photography stops along the way. At Bwindi you shall check in for dinner and overnight at your lodge to prepare for the next day’s activities.

 Day 7: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will set off to the park headquarters with your packed lunch. During the Gorilla tracking experience, you may also encounter other different primate species. Once the Gorillas have been tracked, you will you will be given an hour with the Gorillas taking pictures and videos. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge in Bwindi.

Day 8: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park  via sector

You will begin the day with a drive to the Ishasha sector, where you’ll embark on a game drive in search of the famous tree-climbing lions. During this drive, you’ll also have the chance to spot other wildlife that inhabits the park. Afterward, you will continue your journey to the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Finally, check in at your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 9: Game drive and boat ride on Kazinga channel

You will start this day with early morning game drive in the park, looking for different animal and bird species. Later in the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise after your lunch. The boat cruise at the Kazinga channel takes you through possibly the highest concentration of hippos, crocodile and different bird species. You will also see many elephants and buffaloes drinking at the water’s edges. You will return to the lodge afterwards.

Day 10: Drive to Kibale Forest national park

You will set off for Kibale forest national park in the morning. This park also boasts the highest concentration of primates than any other park in the world. You will pass through a beautiful crater lakes’ region where you will take leisurely walks and photography.

Day 11: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

After breakfast, transfer to Kanyanchu Tourist Center for a briefing before starting your chimpanzee tracking adventure. With guidance from expert rangers, explore the forest in search of these fascinating primates.

In the afternoon, head to Bigodi Wetlands for a swamp walk and birding experience. Along the way, spot various bird species, including the rare papyrus Gonolek. Later, return for dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale Forest Camp (FB).

Day 12: Depart to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast you will head to Murchison falls. The park offers a lot of activities which include a launch trip the delta boat cruise which gives you an opportunity to view the magnificent waterfalls. Along the way you will see numerous tea plantations and you may stop at any for photography.

Day 13: Game drive, boat ride and hike to top of the falls

After breakfast, head to the park for your game drive. Here, you’ll have the chance to view various animals. After lunch, continue with a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. Along the way, you may spot many animal species on the Nile River banks. Next, proceed with a hike to the top of the falls. Witness the Nile’s powerful explosion, creating a stunning waterfall. Finally, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Murchison River Lodge (FB).

 Day 14: Drive to Jinja via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After your morning breakfast, you will meet your safari guide and start a drive to Jinja. Along the way you will pass via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a Rhino tracking experience. After the experience, you will proceed to Jinja. Upon arrival, you will check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay (Full board basis).

 Day 15: Water rafting, city tour and drive to Entebbe

Early in the morning you will proceed to the rafting point and start the thrilling activity. After lunch you will check out of the lodge and head to Jinja town for a city tour which shall end with a boat ride to the source of the Nile. Afterwards you will drive to Entebbe.

Day 16: Airport transfer and departure

Depending on your scheduled departure flight, you will be transferred to the airport for your journey to the next destination. However, if your flight is later in the day, you may take part in optional activities around Entebbe. You can visit the botanical gardens for a relaxing nature walk or explore Mabamba Swamp, a prime spot for birdwatching, including the rare shoebill stork. swamp and Ngamba islands.
