Embark on a 3-day adventurous safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda’s most visited national park. Located in the western region, about 376 km from Kampala, the park spans an area of 1,978 sq. km. Established in 1952, it is home to around 100 mammal species and over 600 bird species. During game drives, you’ll encounter elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, and various antelope species.

The park’s diverse ecosystems—savannahs, wetlands, and forests—provide a perfect backdrop for wildlife viewing. A must-see highlight on this Adventurous Safari is the Kazinga Channel boat cruise, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward. The waterway offers amazing opportunities to observe wildlife up close, including hippos and crocodiles, as well as over 60 species of birds.

Schedule Details

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a Yaneta Safaris representative will be there to pick you up. After a brief safari orientation, you’ll begin the 6-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, you will make a few stops. First, visit the Equator for photos, then continue to Mbarara town for lunch at Agip Motel. After lunch, proceed to the park, passing through scenic landscapes such as open grasslands, Ankole long-horned cattle, tea plantations, the Rift Valley Escarpment, and woodlands. You will arrive at the park in the late afternoon. From there, enjoy a game drive to your lodge. Afterward, have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Morning Game drive and Afternoon Boat trip along the Kazinga Channel

Start your day with a cup of coffee or tea before heading out for a game drive along the Kasenyi trail. This trail offers great opportunities to spot wildlife, including waterbucks, Uganda kobs, elephants, buffaloes, lions, warthogs, and various bird species. After the drive, return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch.

In the afternoon, enjoy a 2-hour boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, connecting Lake George and Lake Edward. On the boat, you’ll see hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, warthogs, elephants, and kobs, along with birds like malachite kingfishers and pink-backed pelicans. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer Back to Kampala/ Airport

After a delicious and filling breakfast, check out of the lodge. You may choose to take a primate walk in the park before continuing on your journey. Along the way, stop for lunch and visit the Mpambire Drum Center to see how drums are made by locals. You can also buy some souvenirs. Proceed to Kampala, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel in the evening.
