                                                                  OUR STORY — HISTORY & ORIGINS — Where It All Began

Yaneta Safaris was born out of a deep personal experience and a powerful desire to redefine trust, integrity, and authenticity in the tourism industry. The inspiration behind the company began when the founding director invited a British friend to visit and explore Uganda, “The Pearl of Africa”, a country blessed with extraordinary natural beauty, rich culture, diverse wildlife, and some of the most breathtaking landscapes on the continent. Like many international visitors, he was excited by the thought of witnessing Africa’s iconic wildlife in their natural habitat, especially the majestic lions, one of the most sought-after highlights of any safari experience.

However, during conversations about travel experiences in Africa, he shared a disappointment that left a lasting impression. He said: “We truly love to visit your country, but the problem is you can book a trip month in advance, arrive full of excitement, and then during the safari the guide tells you that you may not be able to see the lions because they have gone to eat or sleep. Imagine planning this trip for five months, dreaming of these incredible animals, only to end up disappointed because the guiding personnel were not prepared enough or did not understand the wildlife patterns well enough!”

                                                                                          Those words struck deeply!

The Director, who values hospitality, integrity, and the reputation of Uganda, began questioning: why should a guest travel thousands of miles, invest their hard-earned money, and carry so much anticipation, only to be met with uncertainty, poor communication, or a lack of professionalism?

That moment revealed a gap in the tourism industry not just in safari operations, but in the way some travel experiences were being sold and delivered. Too often, promises were made without proper planning, expectations were not managed honestly, and guests were left feeling disappointed. It became clear that what many travellers needed was not just a safari company, but a trusted travel partner who values truth, transparency, preparation, and genuine service above anything else.

And from that realization, Yaneta Safaris was founded and born from the belief that Uganda is one of the most extraordinary places on earth and that far too many travellers were experiencing it through operators who lacked the deep, personal knowledge that makes the difference between a good holiday and a life-changing journey.

The founder of Yaneta Safaris is a Ugandan who grew up with the country’s wild places as their backyard. The Bwindi Forest, the Murchison Falls, the source of the Nile (the longest river on the planet), the Rwenzori peaks and these are not destinations from a brochure. They are places with deep personal meaning. And that intimacy is the foundation on which Yaneta Safaris is built.

The company was established with a simple but powerful mandate to create tourism operations that treats every client as a guest and deploys guides who are genuinely knowledgeable and passionately committed, this delivers seamless planned experiences at fair prices while giving back to the communities and ecosystems that make Uganda tourism sustainable.

The name Yaneta is drawn from African heritage, carrying warmth, welcome, and a spirit of family belonging’ It reflects the spirit in which the company operates, not as a commercial machine, but as a host.
